I dont understand why this works since the distance that I'm playing from is exactly the same (maybe 7 feet) and when I put the adapter at the front of the desktop it doesnt work either but I guess whatever works. While trying to connect, the wireless adapter uses wrong passphrase to.
Update: For anyone who might have this problem, I managed to fix it by attaching a usb extender to the back of my desktop and placing the adapter directly in front of me. Usually the repeatedly connect/disconnect symptom is caused by wrong WPA/WPA2 passphrase. Anyone has any idea what is causing this and how to fix? The controller can work fine when its connected via bluetooth so i know its not the controllers problem, and it can stay connected to the adapter when doing anything other than playing a game in steam. I've tried every solution I could find in the forums (uninstalling Geforce Experience, unchecking all options in controllers, changing to a usb 2.0 port, updating drivers etc) but its just not working.
